Can someone PLEASE tell me why my battery keeps running down?
I have an 04 CS with 100k. Something keeps draining the battery. I don't leave anything plugged into the cigarette lighters, make sure everything (I can see) is turned off and I activate the alarm. However, the battery used to run out over the course of a bout 3 days with the car being parked. Now, it has progressed to the point where I can't drive it anywhere because the battery will be stone dead when I try to start it.
Is this a likely a dying battery or is there a known issue with these SUVs and something draining the battery?
I tried to do a search for battery on here in the cayenne forum and only one unrelated post came up.

Car has been parked for 35 minutes and the battery is now dead as a door nail. To my knowledge, I don't have the secondary battery where you turn the key to the left to activate it. The question now is this: have all the power drains ruined the battery or is the battery simply due for replacement? Do these AGM batteries have issues like the standard ones? I have no experience with them. This is the first car I've owned with an AGM battery. I have no qualms about replacing it but want to make sure there isn't another underlying issue.

How old is the battery? Take it to your local autoparts store and they can check the battery. You can test it with the connections under the hood. If you do not know the age, it is possible it is bad. Try that first and you might find that the battery is the problem. Good luck.

I'd try a new battery. It could just be on the way out...

Thanks for the responses. Does anyone know how to remove the front, carpeted trim piece like the manual says? It unclips from the front but won't pull out. Access to those bolts will be quite difficult without removing it.
I'm not sure how old the battery is. I'm hoping it will be labeled once I gain access to it, which so far seems impossible because of that carpeted trim piece.

I figured out how to remove the trip piece and the seat is off. Unfortunately, some ding dong before me must have tried to do it himself and stripped one of the triple square bolts. So now I have one bolt that's holding me up. I wish people would use the right damn tools when they try to do stuff themselves.

Does this look like an original battery? It has a sticker on it that says Varta. It looks awfully clean to me, indicating that it might have been replaced recently. Although it is under a cover.

It looks like an original battery or it could be one replaced by a dealer, I think they use Varta too. I think I looked for a date code on my first battery but couldn't find one.
If you can just take it out, charge it fully and then test it after letting it sit for 24 hrs. Or, just replace it, it's a $150 maintenance item in my opinion. (as long as you don't get the replacement at the dealer).

There has to be a date code on it for the warranty. You might have to pull it to read the date code, or maybe could use a small mirror and light. Batteries do go bad, and some even go bad quickly, like in 18-30 months.
