I justed picked up an '04 CTT with the spare tire carrier on the back and I can't seem to get the thing to open. It worked for a few days but now its inop.

When I press the switch on the handle, there is no sound.

In the owner's manual it shows how to release the spare wheel using an emergency pull, but when I removed the cover in the bumper I didn't see anything there.

The manual says to remove the cover for the "left towing lug", but I didn't see anything behind either cover.

Is there anything else I can do?

I had to replace the latch on one of these once. I believe I was able to manually release the lock with the bumper cover off. There is a plastic shield over the top of the latch that needs to come off.

I was finally able to find the emergency pull cable to open the spare tire carrier. It had fallen down close to the exhaust.
