Question about 9" Secaine radio install in 2009 GTS (957)
Thanks to Morris for Starting this thread:

I have a few questions for those that have installed this unit.
From reading about this unit it sounds as though it should be plug and play. Is it really? I am getting steering wheel button control and the unit powers on, but no sound.
I am not using any of the RCA connectors at this point because I think the Bose Most adapter should handle the sound... correct?
Is this install plug and play or did you have to splice wires etc?
Perhaps Seicane sent the wrong connector harness that adapts the new unit to my existing harness.
Thanks, I would appreciate any advice.

You need to read the thread the whole way through. This is covered and it is not entirely plug and play. Does your car have the Bose system? If so, it will require a MOST converter to allow the RCA outputs to input to the vehicle's fiber system.

Thanks... between the 17 pages of posts and an email from Secaine I am on my way. One question... where do I find the Cayenne's original fiber optic cable? IS it orange?

Glad it worked out. Enjoy the cool upgrade!
For future readers: Yes the fiber cable pair is orange, and yes the provided MOST adapter needs power and ground sliced into the Cayenne wiring.

Morrisdl: Thanks for all your info. Because of you, I ordered the same 9" unit, with noise suppressor, and antenna mergers for my 2006 955 with Bose, and await delivery. My PCM is always rebooting, flashing the porsche screen on and off. I am hoping that my Bose amp is ok, as it was before this issue, and all I need is this new head unit.
Do you all think it is fair to assume this new unit will run ok based on the past problems I had with the original PCM 2.1 behavior??

Seams reasonable assumption that the problem will be fixed replacing the headunit.
Too bad its broken...I sold my old PCM 2.1 for $700 on ebay. I Still need to remove the cd changer, XM tuner, and DVD nav units to generate more funding for future mods!

Thanks morisdl, when the radio arrives, and if everything I've learned allow a successful install, I would love to sell my DVD navigation unit under the seat. If i just remove it, will that be breaking the Most ring?morrisdl;13745325]Seams reasonable assumption that the problem will be fixed replacing the headunit.

hi Hal.. My pcm was stuck in a boot loop as well. Couldn't stay on long enough to flash an update. I ordered this head unit. Unfortunately I had no audio.. Seicane sent me a replacement MOST adapter thinking that could solve the issue since some other members received faulty MOST boxes..it did not.
I'm thinking amplifier now. I hope to have this resolved in the next week or so. I'll keep you posted. Good luck! The head unit is beautiful but it can be difficult to see during the day with a glare, and my windows are 35% tint.

I have only ever had glare issues with the panoroof open, but that seemed reasonable. I also dont commute to work. 8-5 Commutes tend to be when the sun is low in the sky.
Has anyone gotten the "OK Google" voice commands working? I haven't really looked into it, but it would be helpful.

What do you mean by 'flash an update ' to the PCM?

The dealership saw the stereo rebooting and tried to flash a PCM update to the unit, but it wouldn't work because it wouldn't stay powered on long enough before restarting again. They went ahead and priced a PCM unit for me at I believe I was quoted $2600 before labor. Laughable. I've had my HU for nearly 2 months now

Hi 957 gts. Thanks. So your just waiting for a new most cable from Seicane? I just looked at bypassing the bose amp and looks tough in my 955. I dont think i want to remove all those interior panels to get at the speaker access plug and amp, then cut and splice wires from a new amp. Amp is really up there! Still praying my amp works when the new unit arrives. If i get no sound i might just temporarily run rcas to a different amp and speakers tossed in the back till i get more nerve and money.

FWIW, I had a mad MOST adapter, got a replacement- which worked for only a week. Somehow, as I was troubleshooting the lack of music (again), I disconnected the power lead while the HU was powered on. The noise made me jump, but when I connected it back together (safely this time) I had sound again.
It still works, after may months.
