Default Michelin Latitude Tour HP N0 (Me vs Costco)

Went to my local Costco to buy a set of Michelin Lattitude Tour HP N0 275/45 R19 108V M+S for the pepper car. Costco Tire guy says "nope, can't do that" we'll only sell Y speed rated tires (Diamaris or Lattitude Sport) for that make and model. Well, I just happened to have the latest Porsche technical bulletin dated 04/07 with all the approved tires and the Lattitude Tour HP NO is approved (all season) for the Cayenne S. Still no luck. Called the HQ Costco tire guy and faxed the Porsche Tech bulletin, he says "no problemo" but let me call the Michelin Rep. Long story short....Michelin guy says "check our website it is not a suitable tire for your car." I say " If you can't put a "N" rated 275/45 R 19 108V M+S tire on a Cayenne, what Porsche did Michelin intend it be installed on, a Boxter?. BTW my pepper came with 18" all-season tires upgraded to 19s before delivery but still have the speed restriction stickers.

What part am I missing?

IIRC, forum member 'skl' bought his tires from Costco, perhaps the same ones you mentioned.
Send him a PM.....

HA, I had a similar run-in with a Costco, over a set of tires for my lost Audi S 4. I took it all the way to corporate in Seattle, and lost. It is an insurance thing and if the computer doesn't say the tires fits, COSTCO will not install the tire on your wheels/car. I am sure there are some that might do it, but that is the policy.

Tire Rack, and Discount, and the Porsche Tech bulletin say they are an approved fitment in 19" for the Cayenne, and Cayenne S but not Turbo, or Turbo S. Michelinman.com and Costco say Cayenne only not Cayenne S, Turbo or Turbo S. I think I'm just going to go to Discount. Costco for me is much closer and I find the free rotations attractive.

I guess I just find it peculiar/bizarre that Porsche and Michelin can't agree on something as simple as tire fitment.

That is odd they come up under the list of recommended tires for the Cayenne Turbo when searching the tirerack - I guess I will call them or just go with either the P Scorpions or Toyo ST's

That's strange as our local Costco put Latitudes on my now departed S with no problems. Mounted them with no issues and never any vibration problems... which many early Cayennes had.
Come to West Des Moines and have our Costco install them...

Well almost a month has passed without a reply from Porsche or Michelin despite multiple attempts. What great customer service. I thought PCA might help but no response there either.
The final word from Costco was that they would not sell me the tires unless that size tire with that specific speed rating was on the placard inside the door. I said when the car was manufactured nobody made a 19" all season tire in that size 275 45 19. I brought it to their attention that there was a note on the placard to reference the Porsche approved tire list for the most current information. Still no luck.
Long story short...took Skis recomendation and purchased the tires from Discount Tire. Very nice, quiet, ride. Will report back on the wear.
Hopefully with a wear rating of 440 I will get more than 15k miles of wear. Thanks Ski for the sound advice.

I picked up the Bridgestone Dueler HP 275/40/20 N0 for ~$180 at Tirerack..... Seems to be a decent tire 500 miles on.

Perhaps they installed the Latitude Sport that are Y rated? These are listed as available for the Cayenne S at my local Costco. The Tour (V rated) at not available for the S.

It appears that Costco has grouped the S with the Turbo while Prosche and Tire Rack do not. I'm also interested in the Tour HP and may purchase from Tire Rack and have them shipped to my local independent shop.

So far the Tour Hps are very nice. Very pleased. As far as Ski is concerned he was pretty sure they were Tours. He mounted his some time ago and it's my understanding that the the sports just became available.
