Default Fabspeed CT cat bypass pipes

Just got my set in the mail. Very psyched. I said I would not mod this thing, but we all know how that goes. Anyway's just curious for those that installed them, are there any suprises or is it rather straight forward installation ???

Any one know how much to torque the flange bolts in lb/ft? Thanks

PS: I intend to photo the process to add to my install galleries.

this is to you guys out there that are not as mechanically inclined as above posts.... I have the cat bypass pipes also, had my dealer install them which they did. Service manager found out and made them put my cats BACK ON!! Come to find out that even though the cay has two sets of cats, dealers are not allowed to mod cat systems. Had my local porsche hot rod shop do it!! Love them. they do make the exhaust even louder for those of ya who havent thought of that!

Pretty easy to install, just the one bolt on the passenger side is a BIT*H to get off.

Make sure to have them labeled left and right before they are sent to you. It is not obvious. The right one will fit on both sides. Try to get someone else to do it for you. The back bolts are challenging to get to particularly on the right side. LOL.

Half the fun is the install...well, once it's done...They are labeled 1&2. I hope 1 means driver side??? Looks like the cat's are just past the motor...the flanges anyways. The primaries must be on the side of the motor. Better check out the parts cd exploded view.

2 hours to install. Top bolt on each flange a real bitch to get, but when you remove the plastic plate, it can be done. Now for the tesst drive. :-)

You need someone to drive it for you...you can't hear any difference inside the car. AND it sounds different under load than just sitting and reving it.

You are right. I can barely hear the difference. A little louder inside when you stomp on it. I can hear the enhanced idle rumble better when I go behind the car. Sound really wasn't the motivation, and I am glad it's not obstrusive (loud). It's the throttle response, the 26hp and 23 lb/ft of torque that does it for me.

This is what I wanted to hear. Mudman has noted this about his CS in the past but it's nice to hear it about a CT too.

Can you really feel a difference?

Yes.

Keep in mind, that with turbo's, any reduction in backpressure yields greater hp increase than when compared to an NA motor...I think the car's ecu is still learning the reduction in back pressure. I only took a test drive. I will give a final report after a few days of driving it...
