I was just wondering about this. 2 years later, but still wondering. I have seen trailing arm to pure coil over conversions in the rear, and a couple of custom four link setups in the front. I would think that if anyone did it it would have been the 1988 cup cars (and they didn't), or another very developed race car.

The Fabcar, full tube frame 944s had dual wishbone suspension at all four corner. I saw a spread on the Pelican forum about a 944 that the owner had put 993 or 996 rear suspension on. It looked like he grafted on the entire sub-frame to his 944.
