No, 996 has monoblock style calipers, 993 are two piece calipers.

You don't need any brakes on the M40 that is until you hit the M25 parking lot

Geoffrey - Is there a benefit to the monoblock design over the two-piece? Also I have toyed with the idea of putting big reds on the front of my 930 but worry about the braking balancing being thrown off if I leave the stock 930 calipers in the rear.

The monoblock calipers are more riged so they flex less than the two piece 993tt style. You'd want to match the front and rear calipers on your 930. I don't think it would be a good idea to leave the 930 rears on there. I did the complete conversion on my 700hp 930 and always felt that the stock 930 brakes had a much better feel and a more solid pedal (due to the master cylinder size of the 930 M/C). The only reason I changed to the 993tt calipers was that I was going through pads so quickly with the stock setup. I also ran a brake cooling duct kit which helped trememdously.
