Post 996 motor mods

My salesman just came back from a Porsche sales course. In the course they said the 3.4L motor block was designed to handle up to 1200 hp.

Now obviously the motor would never be modified to 1200hp, but knowing that, would it be possible to bore out the block to 3.6L, or even 3.8L to get more hp, or is it "pissing in the wind"?

Let me know.

Exclamation

In the course of development of our turbosystems for the 996, we changed the sealing method and liners on the 996's. In doing so, this allowed us to run up just over 4liters in displacement.
I can't speak for 1200hp, but it's sealed well for 792hp at 1.25bar. Keep in mind this is all based on the na 996 engine, not the 996tt...
The rods on those things are probably only good for 400hp though, at best. They're a cheap, sintered powdered metal casting deal with the broken caps. It's nice for production, but horrible for power
