Major differences by year
I'm considering a Panamera for my DD. Only interested in S or Turbo and only interested in preowned. Starting from '10 to @'13 - what are the major improvements I should consider? The older car would likely be a turbo and the newer car would likely be an S. Miles will not be over 25k. CPO is a consideration - which puts me back in S territory. Budget is 59k or less.
Lastly, with the new generation hitting imminently - what are the thoughts on devaluation on the previous generation? Usually there would be a noticeable drop especially considering the revised rear aesthetically.

I have a new 4S on order and never considered buying one before as I didn't like the way the back of the car looked and I hated all the buttons on the main console. Just my 2 cents...

I'd recommend a CPO if at all possible. Can't really comment on the changes, I don't think there are very many or very substantive changes over the years. My speculation on price is that the price drops are slowing. My car is a 2010 turbo that I bought in 2015. MSRP was 160k. I paid 60k with CPO and it had 60k miles. that's 20k/year each year for five years. A quick search for my car shows prices in the $45k-$70k range still, with $50k being about average for a 60k-70k mile car. To me that means my depreciation is roughly $7k/year for the last two years.

Sweet928, ditto. Looking for Panamera product info year by year. Most pressing I'm trying to figure out when the 3.0 Turbo engine was introduced and which models it is available. Regarding the big V8 4.6 Turbo, have there been maintenance or reliability issues? Is see that the new Panamera turbo is a 4.0 V8. Why the change?

Are these cars known to be needy used? I am all for a CPO but they tend to be a hefty premium over buying from an owner. Seems I can find preowned S's still under warranty just @$50k with 20k'ish miles here in CA...Then I can extend the warranty for 4/100k for @$3k range.

CPO is a very good idea. Yes, they can be very needy. Interesting that you want an S or a Turbo, but not a 4S or a GTS. The new model is a very different from older ones. Have yet to drive the new Panemara and expect it to be better in every respect, not that the '13 PGTS or my current '16 PGTS are deficient in any way. It will be fun to compare my GTS to the new Hybrid, which has more power. I am assuming that the new Hybrid will be very close dynamically, which means that the new GTS version will have to step up the game. Of course, the new turbo and turbo SH will be awesome.
FWIW, if you get a chance to drive a Panamera GTS or Turbo on the track, I think that you will be surprised at how such a heavy vehicle performs.
