Default Too many buttons...

They took the center console control a little too far.

Looks almost like a keytar.

I think Devo is an appropriate approximation of where Panamera stands in the automotive world, from every conceivable angle

Heck a guy might select a Sidewinder when what he really wanted was an AMRAAM. Switchology.

I like a lot of buttons....

Better than a stupid iDrive or similar!

Agreed, I would rather have buttons than trying to find things through iDrive or whatever interface.

Is that why they failed?

I love it - easy to find things and much quicker than the joystick and screens with menus and several sub levels to find **** (tried BMW, Mercedes and Audi, all great cars but prefer the Porsche multi buttons ( by the way, have you ever met a Porsche owner who has issues with the buttons? It is usually journalists and non Porsche folks).

I have not tried the new Panamera yet, a bit worried about the control...

I like it - it's better to have a clearly labeled button for every common function than to browse multi-layer menus. If there is no clearly visible button for a car feature, I end up never using the feature. But they should also have pre-set buttons that can record combination of settings (like M button in BMWs). I have to push 4 individual buttons to get the GT3 to track-ready state.
