2017 Porsche Panamera GTS

Typical launch for GTS versions is usually two years after new model introduction. Unfortunately, the next PGTS will probably be a turbo-charged 6 cylinder engine. My guess is that it will be tuned for 20 hp more than the P4S, so 460 hp. I am sure that the next PGTS will be distinctly different from the Panamera 4S in the usual ways (trim, options, special interior, etc.). On paper the 2017 P4S should perform in line with the 2014-16 PGTS, but given the essentially all-new design, the handling may be a bit better.

Not at all funny. You are mistaken.
Perhaps the European versions of the 2013 and 2014-16 PGTS were different than US versions, but aside from no diesel here the engines are basically the same.

My 2013 PGTS had 430 bhp and my 2016 PGTS has 440 bhp. the 2017 P4S is rated at 440 bhp, although because it is turbo charged, it has more torque than the NA 4.8 liter engine in my 2016 PGTS.

Perhaps there is no difference in power
In any event, getting almost back to the topic the PGTS 4.8 liter V-8 is likely history, but a very good one.

I don't believe Porsche will market a GTS without the V8 for a number of reasons.
The Turbo has the V8, so the GTS will simply have the same basic engine without the turbo and with some additional tuning. I don't think there is any way they'll just increase the boost on a 4S 6 cylinder engine.
Second, one of the big draws of the GTS is that it is normally aspirated, again - not consistent with a turbo 6.
Finally, one of the biggest draws (for me) for the GTS was the exhaust sound. They went to great lengths to make the sport exhaust one of the best sounding of any stock car. I can't believe they would give this up as well.
Of course, I could be wrong... just hope not.
