Interesting thing about that job is you get to see the cars 4 years before they're released/shown. Infotainment devices are now an integral part of the vehicle styling and are designed in at the start (headunit design..PCM3.x...# of speakers, types of speakers, locations of speakers) are all styling controlled elements.

So, you get a window 4+ years into future models.
Everything coming out now (new models, facelifts, refreshes, etc)....been there done that. No surprises.

Another perk is getting to take the cars out for "tests".....fond memory of taking a car out to dinner one night.....we "borrowed" a Maybach (before anyone had even seen one) and I called my wife from the back seat while we were tearing around Stuttgart at night after dinner. Amazing we didn't get arrested, shot or fired. Great car BTW.
Yes, I also did the electronics for Audi and Mercedes......

And besides, nuclear power stations have really nice expensive buttons...the ones in the Panamera (and new upcoming Cayenne...which from the inside will look very similar...just a guess) are really cheap.

...and what kind of trouble are you causing nowadays?

Actually, getting shot in Stuttgart is much less likely than in any US city. In my 28 years there, I have never seen any shooting, or anyone who had been shot. I've only seen a few drunks fighting, a few car accidents, and a few motorcyclists falling from their two-wheeled transportation devices.

Test mules are not 100% uncommon, either. My village, about 15 miles outside of the city, was on the Mercedes test route. I have seen any Mercedes introduced from the late 70ies to the mid-90ies disguised as a test mule. Maybe that's why I'm not posting BS when pictures of test mules appear.

Gawd. They didn't source the dash hardware from VW.
Or Gawd forbid, from Skoda.

Yes, that line from Austin Powers is a bit of an inside joke at laser companies.....I was going to name my current project 'Sea Bass'.....but went with another name instead.

Wow that interior is awful. Who on earth would place that many buttons so close together?

I really hope its different on the production cars.

Does Porsche really think they're going to sell many of these things?

Exterior is questionable and the interior is downright hideous IMO. Is this their answer to the I-Drive?

If the buttons are cheap (as you say) it will make the car feel that much worse inside.

The designers at Porsche need to stop drinking the
