Aston Martin V12 Vantage S
Any folks on here have any experience with Aston? With used Porsche (Gt3/gt3rs/gts) holding values so well I looked at other makers for comparison.
A slightly used '15 Vantage S (220k msrp) with 6.0 v12 and 565hp can now be had for around the price of a used 991 GTS.
Have I committed a moral sin by considering the Aston as a car to replace my departed base 3.4 991 as a GT car?

my experience was that i quickly decided not to buy one. They had terrible service reputation. Terrible dealer availability. Terrible cost to maintain. Couldnt get my insurance to write one. Poor options and technology If you want to style around town a little, it would be a good attention getter. be prepared to spend alot of time at the shop and spend alot of money
PS if you want a great car to drive and live with get a MB SL63

Residual value of any Aston is incredibly low. Combination of market (most people who want an Aston want a new one), realities of technology sophistication, complexity of repairs and limited places for service. My take on Astons - beautiful cars (really beautiful) but laggards on transmissions, and quality of technology. Thinking that a well optioned Panamera Turbo or SL 63/65 will be a better experience

I had a V8 Vantage. I enjoyed the Vantage- great sound, nice manual, and no problems during ownership. Like any exotic, you have to rely on the local dealer and service is not cheap. Luckily, the local dealer mechanic was top notch. They are no less reliable than Jaguar and certainly a step above in terms of car ownership.
The reason I sold the Vantage, was that the V8 was underpowered for the weight of the car- a problem you won't have with the V12. I think you'll like the Aston experience.

The 2015 Vantage V12 S has a terrible automatic transmission. I have a 2012 V12 Vantage with the 6 Speed manual. The combination of NA V12 and manual is hard to beat - sounds incredible! Mine has been reliable and a joy for 7k miles. I also have a 991 GTS Cab and a 991 4S Cab - both of which are terrific. The Aston FEELS faster but likely isn't. You can break the rear tires loose in third with no problem. I believe the 2012 V12 Vantages are real sleepers and will be the one to own once AMG has had its way with Aston. Just my $.02.

They have horrible resale value, probably worst in the exotic market, nothing like Porsche, stay away unless you just want a money pit. The market for them is very small and you end up trading it for sure, most depreciate more than 50% in value within the first two years. A friend of mine bought a new vantage S at 154K, 2 years into it, could not sell it for 75K, ended up trading at 70K! The car looked beautiful but performance wise it lacked power, the car felt heavy, and the transmission was just not acceptable for a car for that price point. Oh it there was a positive thing....it sounded great

A very good friend of mine has one in Skyfall Silver - he's currently trying to sell it and will replace it with a 991.2 GTS (he owned it for about a year).
