Default GT4 or 991mkII GT3

Hi guys!
The 991mkII GT3 is coming up on the 7th March Geneva Motor-show as we all know, how many of you are thinking of getting one as an"UPGRADE" ?

If you get an allocation for the 991mkII GT3.
Will you keep both GT4 and GT3 or sell the GT4?
Is this really a upgrade to swap to a GT3?
I really like my GT4 90% of the time, but the GT3 is always my "Dream Car"
Keeping Both cars is a bit wasteful for me since they kinda "function" the same?

What's your thoughts? Which car is more "Special" and worth keeping in the long run?
Thanks

I'm on the list for a 991.2 GT3 and will be offered an early allocation.

With that said, I'm most likely looking at a 991.1 GT3 in addition to the GT4. I think there will be as many 991.2 GT3 built as requested, without the 9k redline of the .1. The GT4 as of today is a one year run, and my car is a PTS. Hard to give that up.

Variations of this topic have been discussed as nauseam on this site already. The consensus seems to be 'they're different'. The next consensus point then seems to be buy both and then decide (sell one or keep both).

Obviously that's not correct.

As to the OP's question - I switched from a GT4 to a 991.1 GT3 (see my sig.) and have an allocation (according to the dealer "99% likely". His words, not mine) for the 991.2. My quick takes:
1) As someone said above - they are different in many ways. You'd have to drive one to understand
2) I think the GT4 is more special from a collector type perspective. Limited run, probably the only one of it's exact kind (NA, mid-engine, stick). So it's special in that way. GT3 is another in a growing line of excellent track ready cars
3) The GT3 is more special (IMO) as a track machine. The PDK and motor go together like a hand and glove. 9K redline is insane. And the car just seems to grip and grip and grip. So fun to drive

I bought both specifically for track use. And having spent time now in both on the track I can say that for me (just me) I prefer the GT3.

If garage space wasn't limited I'd love to own both. The GT4 is very fun on the track and it would be great to switch it up from time to time. But for now, one toy car for me - GT3.

If the 991.2 GT3 has 4.0L and a Manual I will be trading my GT4. I had the 991.1 GT3 and traded for the GT4 because of manual. The engine in the GT3 is quite Special so I would be out of my mind not to.

It depends. If the GT3 has center lock wheels, rear wheel steering and other electronic gizmos, then I'd keep the GT4. Simple is better IMHO.

Full disclosure - traded a 991 GT3 for a GT4 and never looked back.

I'm in for the 991.2. I'll spec it as a low option build the same as my 15.

Unless the hype machine sways me otherwise, I'm going to stay in the GT4. All I ever wanted was a manual GT3 but after a year in the GT4 I'm super happy with the Cayman platform. Other than the engine I prefer everything about the GT4 over the GT3 - mid-engine, lighter, no rear wheel steering, 5 lugs, snugger cockpit, etc.

^Do not disagree. There are more things I like about the GT4 over the GT3 but not if the GT3 is going to have 500 ponies. Will be way too hard to pass her up.

But - lets see the specs March 7 ect.

I would really like to upgrade from my GT4 to a GT3. As much as I love my GT4 there's something about the 911s wider hips that just really draw me in.

I sold my 991 GT3 to get into a GT4 for the driving dynamics. I acknowledge a big part of that was the manual trams again, but it was also how playful the GT4 is in the turns. I doubt the 991.2 GT3 will change that relative behavior, so I plan to stick it out with the GT4.

I think it is great that many are not trading. It is 50 degrees and sunny here in Chicago and will be upper 50s this weekend so certainly going to enjoy some seat time. I uncovered her 3 weeks ago and decided She will no longer be hibernating. Life is too short not to enjoy

Sold my GT4 in anticipation of partially funding a Manual 4.0L GT3 (if everything works out)...
