A 4L GT4 RS would be awesome, though I'd like mine with the PDK-S.

So if this turns out to be true, our current GT4 values are gonna tank, right?

Don't you mean 991.1? What revision are they on the engine now? Is that the final fix?

All speculation just like this thread. Did you buy yours to drive or to speculate?

Porsche stays in business by offering ways to separate us from our money. No profit in having us hold our current cars forever

Sorry, meant 981-1 GTS. Love the character of the 3.4, and may even prefer it to the 3.8 despite its torque deficit.

Agreed. 981-1 GT4 was a phenomenal value as a new car. Whatever happens after that cannot be predicted, and definitely isn't worth missing the miles of fun in the meantime.

This pretty much sums up my feelings about the GT4 now that I've had 2 and several thousand miles between them. It's lacking a special feeling drivetrain.

Agree with above...no one can tell you what will happen.

However, I don't see GT4 values "tanking" for two reasons: 1) The car is an instant cult car, and sold like it. 2) The first GT4 provided a lot of value for money, and if the next one goes up 10k, 20k, or 30k, that may actually serve to protect the value of the original issue cars. We'll see.

So, up, down, hold...who knows? The best advice is always the same: Enjoy your GT4. Someday, long after it's gone, you're never gonna say "I wish I hadn't put so many miles on that Porsche."

LWF and sport headers help quite a bit in this department.

Also very curious about TPC's intake plenum, as TPC has done some trick stuff in the past. Proper gears would probably close the rest of the gap to making the existing engine feel a lot more special. So would a supercharger. TPC's supercharged 993 was pretty amazing, as were Ruf's supercharged 987s.

EVO magazine:

http://www.evo.co.uk/porsche/911-gt3...manual-gearbox

Finally, a hardcore version of the 718 Cayman, due to be badged 718 Cayman GT4 RS, and rumoured to also use a normally-aspirated 4-litre engine, likely the same unit that will power the forthcoming 911 GT3. The GT4 RS would become the fastest Cayman to date and take much of its inspiration from the 2015 Cayman GT4 and also be offered with a manual gearbox. However, at this time Porsche won’t confirm if the GT4 RS will make production.

A GT4 RS won't affect values much, as it will be rare and much more costly. A GT4 with a GT3 engine or a 4.0 would have a larger effect.

As I posted in the GT3 thread, AMG had the same 6.2 V8 engine at various states of tune in the C63, E63, S63, and the SLS (as well as the black series versions). There was more than 100HP variability from top to bottom.

My vote is that Porsche go with a common 4.0 NA platform for GT3/GT4 and run various tune levels on it for the different cars.

I propose someone should start a thread I have not seen in a long long time on Rennlist : " What do you think will happen to the GT4/GT3/RS values once the new model comes out? "

A GT4 RS with the GT3 engine will start in the $135,000 range. I would not worry about the GT4 values.

A 981.2 GT4 with 30-40- more HP and some fine tuning for $ 15,000 more would hurt their values
