2017 Porsche Werks Reunion East coast
Friday March 10, 2017
I've made hotel reservations and plan to attend.
I've never been to the Amelia Island concours weekend. Is it anything like Monterrey Car Week or am I dreaming?

Registration is now open for the event.
Only 8 GT4's so far? I'm shocked at the low numbers...

Amelia is the best concours on the east coast. Available rooms on the Island are now few and far between. Staying near the Jax airport or in Georgia are some options. Other events like more auctions, a C&C, and a Festival of Speed have popped up over the years and all near the Ritz or the Plantation with free shuttles for easy access. The Werks Reunion was a good surprise.

Friday is the Werks Reunion and on Saturday there is a free C&C on the event grounds for the main concours.
It's free but you need to apply if you're looking to show.

Unlike Sunday’s main event that is limited to a select group of vehicles with unique historical significance specifically chosen to tell a thoughtfully-scripted story, Saturday’s Cars & Coffee at the Concours features a diverse group of vehicles that celebrate the automotive-enthusiast’s spirit. Proud owners of beautiful collectible and exotic vehicles awake early, shine up their prized automobiles, drive to The Golf Club at Amelia Island and gather with like-minded enthusiasts on the first, tenth, and eighteenth fairways for a cup or two of fresh coffee.
Although every entrant must go through an application process, showing a collectible car costs nothing and the event is free to the public from 9am to 1pm. The Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance views Cars & Coffee at the Concours as a gift to the community, a family-friendly “thank you” for supporting the event and making the award-winning show, now in its 22nd year, a reality.

The first couple of C&Cs had a big presence of the local vette club and PCA because of their volunteer work like organizing the Porsche Driving Experience. No surprise that the driving experience hasn't sold out yet compared to previous years since on the same day as Werks and a weak itinerary. Navy base buffet would make a poor Yelp review. Auto cross ride-along thru a couple of cones lasted about 30 seconds and I went faster on the drive to Amelia Island than the high speed run with the pro driver. It was good to tour the rescue helicopters and meet their crews. Brumos collection had some interesting cars as well as the private collection. The ferry ride seemed like 3 minutes but the shortcut does save about 20 minutes of driving time.

The NY/NJ crew will be leaving on Wednesday 3/8 and stopping somewhere in North Carolina along the I-95 corridor.
We'll arrive in Amelia the next evening (3/9) and be at the Werks event bright and early on 3/10.
Saturday 3/11 will be for exploring the Amelia C&C and concours staging.
We'll start our return trip on Sunday. There may be a detour to the Atlanta Porsche experience center for a visit/lunch depending on interest during the return trip.

In the Ritz driveway, Porsche has a signup for test drives on Friday and Saturday. The 911 wait list fills up faster than the SUVs. Alfa, Jaguar, Mclaren and Lamborghini were there too but some drives were not open to walk-ups.
The concours has had only one washout with rain on Sunday for its entire run so chances are high for good weather.

Only a few more weeks!
Any more Rennlisters attending? The sign up sheet shows 17 GT4's with two of them in the judging corral. Look for the NY/NJ GT4 group with by the license plates and dirt from 900 miles of driving down!

I am attending, but not showing my Porsche. I don't want to be there until 4, so my car will be in the parking lot.

Would've totally jumped on the NY/NJ caravan Pete, but for better or for worse at Geneva (for the GT3 unveil )
