Default GT4 at the Nurburgring

For those of you who may not have seen this before. Awesome lap of the Nurburgring.

For sure has the car under control and that Mid Engine helps somewhat compared to 911s in the past. But it also helps knowing the Nordschleife very well. Even in a 918 I probably wouldn't break into the 9 minute mark.

Confident drive, no second guessing inputs. I like how close he sits to the steering wheel, noticed that in most of the GT ALMS cars at Daytona as well. To me it feels like quicker and lower effort inputs are possible with those arm positions, but you can see how shifting can get to be a tiny bit cramped but more immediate.

Not sure if it is the camera angle or what but this is the first time I have watched a fast Nurburg lap and all I am thinking is "Nope, I don't want to go around the 'ring in the 7:40's"

At least not with me driving.

Yep, I was a minute slower than that (and just Bridge to Gate) and still plenty scared

For sure. Not with me or anyone else driving. The Armco is just way too close on that track for me.

Man that car sounds good.

Someone once said "everything i hold dear in my life, when i first tried it scared the hell out of me". That is true for the Nurburgring.

Riding along with pro driver doing a 7:45 lap in my GT4 was terrifying. Now, i cant wait to go back and do it again.

Not a GT4, but a fellow who I know from my Supra days and who is now a proper professional has a video posted that is properly terrifying - the Nurburgring at night, in the rain. For best effect, watch in a dark room...

Cheers

And this is not a very hairy lap. GT4 is pretty stable there.

Well it's not like the GT4 has 900 BHP either.

Now try to get a car that can break the 7 Minute Mark and you will see that driver with his hand's full of Steering Wheel! Compared to such a vehicle the GT4 is a Ride in the Park.

Exactly my point. Check the lap of 918.

8:40's (think it was 8:48), not 8:40. Not at all fast, but still thrilling...

Good days Grant, good days!!
Nur93 did Bridge to Gantry in 7:32 if I remember right and total lap is about +30 seconds?

I still can't understand drivers that can set fast laps in the dark even. It's like a myth to me except it happens every year. I have 25 laps and can't even start to hope to brake 8:30 for the next 50 laps in a GT4..

So much respect for Ring Masters
