Default First track day summary

Ran the streets @ willow spring today http://www.willowspringsraceway.com/page.php?id=31 .
I thought id share my thoughts.
Set up:
camber F-1.9 R-1.5
Toe F 0 R.078"=16"
Full areo
Bars both middle
Tire pressure 34&36R MPSC2
Left all the skid control stuff on
I left the brakes stock and they were surprisingly good usually I flush the fluid and run ST 43's.
The pads don't have a huge bite like a race pad but never had any fade although the streets is pretty easy and brakes ..just to be safe next time Ill flush the fulid and run SRF.

Impression"
The car would push under steady throttle on tight turns but could rotate with letting off. Front end does need some more bite. Either go full soft front or full hard rear leaving the other bar in the middle.. Im leaning to full hard rear because i dont want tire roll over in front.

Temps; 20 min sessions
outside temp was 83
Water 183-188
Oil 223-230
that was 15-20 degrees cooler than my 15 X73 CS. Defiantly better cooling.

Times:
My PR with my old Exige S was 127, my 15 CSX73 =133 GT4 131. (Same track as Randy Proust ran a 121 on)
Once i get it dialed in should be able to match the lotus.

Any thoughts as whats better for more front end bite ?
Softer front bar or stiffer rear. Dont want both because i think the car will be too louse for my tastes.

Those that don't know the willow tracks won't understand the tape.
Camper front and rear, full wing, remove front air duct tabs, rear toe links, soft front middle rear. Also I think your hot tire temps are too high

I haven't driven the GT4 on track but knowing Cup 2's I would agree too high pressure in front...and knowing other Cayman's and GT cars I would also guess getting greater than -2 front camber would help turn in alot... streets a tight track

You should have slight toe out in the front and you need more camber. I did full soft front and middle rear and even with -2.7 a got more tire wear on the outside of the fronts. I'm going to try medium front and full still rear to reduce rollover and take off the 5mm spacers for the next track event along with going -2.9 camber on the front.

I'm not going to screw around with shimming the lower control arms and adding new rear toe links. So -1.9&-1.5 I is it.

My first session I had to wing down and I was a second a lap faster I put it up for the other sessions . I couldn't figure out why the other sessions were slower it just occurred to me after I got home . Interesting? Carl

Aero shouldn't matter too much at SoW no?

Pretty good time in the Lotus, you should be able to beat it with some familiarity.

I didn't think so but with the wing up I was about 4 miles an hour slower on the straight after the bowl108vs 104. Maybe I just lost my mojo after the first session but it seemed like I was driving harder .carl

I'll have to see how things go together for the 20th. Are you going ? I Really wanted to do Mooty's day the timing just didnt work.

BW for me is either a two day deal or a 450-500mile day. Its 170mi each way 2:45. So either i go up the night before and stay at the beautiful Button Willow Super 8. Or leave the house @ 5am and get home @ 7pm, which is a real grind. carl
