A good outcome on both counts.

Man I literally just stumbled onto this lecture. I had no idea AP was even there one hour, and then the next hour I was meeting the man and walking away with a memory (not to mention a lot of valuable information)

So stoked!

It's early but anyone want to guess on production numbers? Originally 1200 for NA. If we're still MY2016 I'm not sure they can ramp that much?

AP said 2500 to 3000.

So that is 1250 - 1500 for the US.

OK, cool. I can live with that. I know I didn't buy a "limited production" car but if they ramped way more aggressive it would be a slap in the face to people that knew it was something special and got in early (imo).

Been saying it for a while. There will be more GT4 allocations come 1Q2016.

Right. AP explained why they physically can't ramp up production to any number they choose. When car is spec'd suppliers are given targets, that they tool up for. They can't just increase production on a whim.

In any case, even if they could he also made it clear that GT cars are never cars to be sitting at the dealer in quantity. They want every car to come out of the factory with a name already on it.

Didn't Pete Stout and others report from the press intro in Portugal that Porsche underestimated demand and was increasing production numbers for the GT4. Porsche was saying that production would be about 2500 world wide and about half to the US.

So, do we now interpret that Porsche will bring up to an additional 250 to they US?

Build to demand -1. Doesn't look like Porsche will build enough GT4s to meet this philosophy.

I remember hearing the original goal was 1,200/600. Strangely AP said the orig goal was 1,800 for the world (so an assumed 900 for US).

Then he spoke about the underestimated demand and that they would make more, but were limited by suppliers as to how many that could be. That is when he threw out the new 2,500 to 3,000 figure.

So I am going to call that 2,750 until I hear differently. 1,375 got the US. I have an estimated 761 allocated to date, which leaves approximately 614 yet to be allocated to the US.

That is my best guess, but I was open with all my assumptions, which are many, so take it for what it's worth.

March Panorama Editors Notes (page 6) - "Recent meetings within Porsche resulted in a decision to raise production (of the GT4) by 50%".

This statement was published prior to the press intro in Portugal.

In the April Panorama issue which included the Portugal GT4 press intro article (page 56) - "In the meantime, it looks like Porsche will build about 2500 GT4's, with about 1000 to 1200 earmarked for the North American market."

So, if the original production target was 1800, then an addional 50% would be 900 for a total of about 2700.

If AP is today saying 2500-3000, that seems to be consistent with what was communicated back in March.

Humm. I would think your to be allocated number is too high since production spots have been allocated but not yet locked, built or delivered.

My allocation locks 10/21/15 with an expected delivery of 1/15/2016. It will be interesting to see my GT4s VIN relative to the range in your database.

Not that I recall. He wasn't talking about things he wanted to. He was fielding questions from the crowd. and no one asked about PTS.

That's why he had to answer questions like "Why is it called the GT4 and not GT3?" I kid you not.
