Default Help me understand what year and model I'm looking for

Hi Everyone,

I'll try to be as brief as possible. I love driving and love the aesthetics of classic 911 porches. About 2 years ago I strongly considered a 930, but the cost and safety made me select another "weekend car". I currently have a 2002 Maserati Spyder, but it still leaves me wanting something else.

I am interested in a older Porsche, but don't necessarily need an air cooled model. Ideally it would be a targa (I love the stainless steel hoop). I love the look and feel of Porsche restored by Singer, and would plan on similar work, although likely performed at lower cost. I'm not looking for a rare car that is best left unrestored. I'm looking for a fun manual transmission car that will be enjoyable to drive.

I love ducktails, but actually prefer the smaller ones as seen in the below link. I don't know enough to gauge what year is shown below.

Anyone? If my budget were say $45K could I get anything close to a singer quality 911?

I'm assuming $25K or so would be for the vehicle to start and then another $20K for a complete restoration?

Does anyone know what model years and models Singer typically works off of?

Default Weekend Car

I maybe wrong but I thought Singers are only the 964's, I'm relatively new to the Porsche world. But from my understanding you usually buy a junk (not in the best condition) 964, and essentially they tear the car apart to the chassis and then rebuilds it. The body years are 1989-1994 (964's), and either coupe or Targa. Their website should have more info, good luck with your weekend car!

For a Singer, you need another "0" in your budget.

The new 991 Targas are awesome. A used one could be about $90.
