Default Help With My Next Porsche 911

Hey Guys,

I'm having a hard time deciding what my next Porsche 911 should be. A little bit about my history with cars: started off with a 2011 BMW M3 that I traded in for a 2012 997 Carrera GTS. After about a year I traded my 997 GTS in for a BMW M4 (which I regret), and then traded the M4 for a 2013 991 Carrera S. If anyones read my last thread from about a month or two ago, they will see that I had many electrical problems with the 991 S that my Porsche dealer couldn't figure out how to fix. I ended up doing a buy back, and am now looking for my next 911.

I'd like to keep it below $85K this time around, so I'm looking for a used 997 or 991. I've been looking at either a 997.2 (2010) PDK Turbo coupe, or a 991 S again. A part of me wants to stay away from 991's because of what happened with my last one, but then again what are chances of it happening again *knock on wood*. I like the low end torque of the 997.2 turbo, but I also found the throttle response and sound of the 991 S amazing especially with sports exhaust. The PDK on the 991 also felt more crisp and faster than the PDK on the 997.2. Another thing I've been thinking about is future value, yes I know you should buy the car you like the most and not for value (depreciation, etc), but with all 911 becoming turbos it makes me feel the 997 turbo market might take a big hit, and perhaps a 991 S would be a better buy. Either way they would both need to be CPO or have some sort of warranty and have PDK since it'll be my daily. So I'm seeing if you all could perhaps assist since I have no idea which way to go. Maybe you can offer a point of view that could help me decide.

Thanks!

It seems to me you should be in a pretty good position to evaluate 997.2 vs 991.1. If you take the engine & sound out of the equation, which one feels better to you?
I personally was in a similar position a few months ago when I was looking to trade my '13 ZCP E92. I was considering a '12 GTS or an older turbo, with a manual of course since it is my daily. I ended up with a '11 997.2TT after trying 991 4S, 2x997.1TT, 997.2GTS, M4. I wish I could've gone with the GT4 but rear seats are a must, no matter how hard you have to squint to see them

If I move from the 997.2TT, I think I'd consider the 991 GTS with its NA powe, NA sound and manual TM, especially so now that it's gone from porsche's lineup. It has both the "top-of-range", and "last-of-its-breed" feel to it so resale should hold up. For me it's the best manual car you can purchase right now.

This one in particular looks pretty sweeeet:

Hmmm, maybe i should look into it....
