Paid for the car today with some of the funds from my credit union. The Porsche finance guy said he had never seen a lender finance a European Delivery car before. I think he was a little disappointed that he didn't write the loan.
So, if you want to get a better rate than Porsche Finance on a Euro Delivery, you may want to check out Associated Credit Union in Atlanta.

My advice is do something that makes you happy as long as it is within your financial means & does not cause harm to anyone or other living beings. Financing or cash is irrelevant, happy or not is very much relevant. Being happy increases productivity, quality of life, even arguably, income and luck. Life is short. Just my .02

I believe the VAT deposit may be at the discretion of the dealer. I had one dealer tell me that it was required, while the dealer I finally placed my order with told me it wouldn't be necessary. "You're a long time repeat customer who has always paid cash for your cars. We trust you'll be good for the money if you fail to export the car in 6 months." I believe what actually happens if you don't complete the export in 6 months is the German government requires PAG to pay the VAT. PAG then asks PCNA for the money who in turn ask the dealer for the money. VAT wasn't even mentioned when I last did an ED with BMW. Compared to doing this with BMW or Mercedes, Porsche is a PITA.

^^^ Correct. PAG would charge PCNA would charge the dealer.

VAT deposit is totally at dealer discretion. I would insist on not having to pay it if you aren't a shady individual.
