I'd add that on ramps are very short, its OK to stop. They abruptly end with a guard rail. Sometimes you have to because there is too much traffic coming. When you do merge, floor it and merge in.

Same with off ramps, brake hard they can be remarkably short. As opposed to meaningless suggested speed signs in the US, in Germany you really don't want to go double the suggested speeds.

When you see the speed limited = unrestricted sign (White sign with 3 grey stripes) go, or move right soon. If you wonder why there is a black cloud of diesel fumes hanging over the autobahn and all the cars are gone; You missed it.

Just remember that if there is an unrestricted sign there may be a smaller one saying something like "120km/h Bei Nasse"....

This means there is a speed limit in the wet...

Big thing also is to never pass another car on the right on the Autobahn.

Eh...sometimes you just gotta do it for the sake of showing the idiot in the left lane, they are indeed an idiot. See this mostly with the "out of towners" aka Belgians, Dutch, Polish, etc.
