Default Okay my turn!

Wife and I leave tomorrow on our trip. Quick itinerary before things get busy...

June 11 Fly to Frankfurt from LAX
6/12 Train to Stuttgart, stay @ Schlosshotel
6/13 Pick up GT4, have it wrapped, factory tour, drive to Grindelwald
6/14 - 15 more Grindelwald - Furka, Grimsel, Sustenpass tour, hike to Bachalpsee
6/16 - Lindry (Burgundy) France
6/17 - 19 Le Mans
6/20 - Ferry to Ireland
6/21 - 6/22 Dingle
6/23 - Kilkenny
6/24 - Ferry Ireland to Wales, drive to East Meon
6/25 - Goodwood Festival, stay in West Meon
6/26 - Chunnel to Calais, drive to Nurburgring, evening Touristfahren
6/27 - Drive to Spa
6/28 - Spa track day
6/29 - Drive to Mittenwald, Bavarian Alps
6/30 - Munich
7/1 - Return car, train back to Munich
7/2 - Munich
7/3 - Train to Frankfort, return to LAX
7/4 - 4th of July Bar-B-Que

Like to thank everyone who has posted their trips, they have definitely had an impact on our route. It is a bit optimistic - some days we have more than 400 miles to cover, but we rarely spend only one night at a location.
We are allowed 6,000 kilometers on the car (3,728 miles) and I have checked and double checked our route, and come up with 3,443 miles. Given that I might lose my $ 18,010 VAT deposit if I exceed it, I'll be monitoring it daily.

Wow, Epic trip. Furka pass is AWESOME.I didn't know there was a mileage limit. You don't have much margin and you may et that up with wrong turns, gas stops, food stops, detours etc along the way. You will be surprised.

Enjoy!

I don't know if I could stand to see your PTS GT4....mine fell through. Bit of jealousy here! I'll keep you posted on our schedule that day, we're only going on Saturday...don't want the wife to OD on the car thing. Mines Agate.

Yeah, it'll be tight, hence the daily monitoring. I have no idea how many miles i'll rack up @ Spa. for example. Have a little factored in for detours, too. Not allowed to get lost, though.

Awesome!! Are you doing the wrap on pickup - you have PTS? Where in Grindelwald are you staying? Have a fantastic time!

And having read slower - good move on the wrap.

That's where we were - nice family. Some old school room furniture but the bathroom was new. Killer views!

Ambitious itinerary. Enjoy. Coincidentally, after dropping my car off in Stuttgart, I flew to Scotland and then Ireland. Kilkenny was pretty nice. I assume you'll see the castle. If you have time, consider the Smithwick Brewery tour. Beer is not actually brewed there anymore, but it's an entertaining hour.

We're staying in a room with a view of the castle, but are just passing thru, trying to get a bit closer to the ferry. Any dinner recs?

Semi-related, I stayed in a nice hotel in Munich a couple of summers ago named Cortiina Hotel (yes, 2 i's). It was centrally located and a pretty nice place, but not extravagant.

I have never heard of a mileage limit! It's your car! I did not have to post the VAT deposit. Mine and a lot of the other dealers don't require it. It's a dealer issue. If you don't return the car in 6 months the dealer is billed the VAT. It's an EU requirement to bill Porsche the VAT if the car is not returned to Porsche and shipped to the US. They assume you manipulated the system to get out of paying VAT.

^^^^^^Understand...since my car locked the dealership has gone through two general managers, and doesn't have a sales manager. The current GM has never done a Euro delivery, used to work for Toyota, and is getting all of his info straight from Atlanta.
Atlanta advised him if he didn't have a good working relationship with me to get a VAT deposit. I don't buy Toyotas, so....
Now, many people have exceeded the 6,000 kilometers and haven't got dinged...but some have (got dinged). I was told that they absolutely could not guarantee the return of my VAT deposit if I had exceeded the mileage, but i could probably get away with it.
Not a gambling man, and I want my $ 18,010 deposit back, so I'm watching the odometer - Or I will be when I get the car tomorrow. Currently have been up for 30+ hours, so I'm going to shuffle down Konig street here in Stuttgart and have a beer and dinner . The wife's already asleep, and it's only 4:45 pm here.

No worries. 6000 km is quite a bit of driving to do in a limited amount of time unless you are there for the summer.
