I wouldn't think so, as I have seen just as much or more variation on read/write speeds and bad sector error counts on USB sticks...
The Class 10 SD that comes with every HD2 works flawlessly. If I want to add more or swap them out during the day, I recommend the tried and proven Transcend 600X card. Having sold more than forty of these units, this has been my experience.
I have had TWO customers using USB, and with the first firmware release, we discovered that the SD card had to be in it to record to USB. I think that's been corrected in the two subsequent releases, but you MUST specify the destination in the scene file loaded onto the HD2.

Seems reasonable?

FYI, storage is rated using Bytes and transfer speed using bits . There are 8 bits in a Byte. So if your SD slot is rated at 100 Mega bits per second (Mbps) it will be capable of transferring 12.5 Mega Bytes per second (MBps). Figure in overhead and actually useable speed will be closer to 11MBps. It's a small point but I know how detailed you are so I thought it might be relevant to you.
