Thanks again.
More than the tips and info I got, it really put such a great smile on my face to read RL people like you, some having a few thousand posts, some being PCA instructors or coach chiming in.
Its awesome !

It really is a terrific community. Lots of talented drivers happy to share.
Same thing happens at the track. I think you are going to love it.

Found what I need:

http://www.ioportracing.com/intercom...face-i/o-port/

FYI, The link posted in the previous post is for the radio, not for the chatterbox.

I just ordered my interface. They need to build it, takes a few days but will be ready for my first DE.

They have one. That is what Rick used in his video.

fabe32's link WILL work with the new HD SmartyCam.

The reason why it says in I/O Port's listing that it works only with the standard definition SmartyCam is because the initial HD release did not have the capacity to add the external mic jack needed to accept the TVC-15's plug.

Starting with the Rev2 and continuing with the Rev2.1, ALL AiM SmartyCam HD's have seven pins for the CAN input, which allows adding an external mic.

So the TVC-15 works fine with the SCHD Rev2.1 all in one AND GP version.

You just need to buy a $68 cable with a mic jack. Plenty of places to buy them from. I stock them.

Like Matt and Pete said - the I/O-Port interface works fine with the SmartyCam HD (which I have). Ken at I/O-Port can help you with which connector, and AiM suppliers (like Pete and Matt) have the cable that allows the external mic.

Says so on the camera. Seven pin EXT socket next to GPS instead of 5-pin.

Photos here as well http://www.aim-sportline.com/eng/pro...provements.htm

The easiest different to see is the lens. The new one is much larger versus the original with the smaller lens and bezel.

I actually have a SmartyCam GP HD with the remote bullet lens. I guess the same thing applies with respect to 7 vs. 5 pin?

Yep. All bullet (GP) versions are seven pin.

I'd love to get that setup because Bill is coaching me for 3 days at VIR starting Friday. Probably not in the cards though, since we leave at 4 AM Thursday morning from LI and there is a storm forecast for Tuesday. Oh well.
