Whose 4 bay external are you using? The OWC Thunderbolt 2 4-drive unit seems nice.

Scott: Yep, that's the model I have. I populated it with older drives I had from a WD MyCloud (what a piece of crap). I used WD 2TB Red drives (wd20efrx) . Probably better drives available now. I use SoftRAID to make it a RAID5 box.

The other bigger drives are a LaCie 2Big that I got ages ago for the Firewire to connect to the Mini and an OWC Mercury Elite (https://eshop.macsales.com/shop/Exte...Elite-Pro-Dual) which they now make in a USB 3.1 also.

Tom,

I am liking the looks of this for use at the track (and at home):

http://www.satechi.net/index.php/typ...hub-space-gray

It is similar to the one Peter provided a link to but has 1 USB-C and 2 USB 3.0 ports instead of 3 USB 3.0 ports.

It should provide all the ports we need for video and for talking to the AiM dash and SmartyCam.

Yep, got two coming of these Thursday. The pass through for charging PLUS the SD card slot (mandatory for me) is what I need with the new MBP.

I the OWC web site says that dock is not compatible with the Late 2016 15" MBP. I guess I need to wait for this:

None of these damn docks, at least the Belkin TBolt docks that I have used, worked with Windows on Boot Camp.

The only thing that worked for me was the TBolt Cinema Display after a cold start or restart in Windows.

I missed the 'not compatible' with the new MBP. I'd guess it's because it only has 60W of charging power and not 80W. I'm going to use it anyway as I doubt the power difference will matter. We'll see.

The nice thing about this one is that it claims compatibility with Windows 10 and boot camp. It claims with Sierra, no drivers are needed for the ethernet adapter too.

Peter: are you using the TB3 to TB2 adapter to connect to the Cinema Display? That's my plan until the 85 W LG 5K USB-C monitors are released. (and that will be enough power to charge and render the dock issue moot)

Well, new MBPro deliver today. In the process of getting everything updated but a couple observations:
- The 'not compatible' OWC dock works just fine and after 5 hours of use the charge is still 100%. The 60 W power appears to be enough. Only issue is trying to get a USB hub recognized once attached to the OWC dock. Working on that.
- The Satechi adapter is a disappointment. It blocks the second port on the side where you use it.
- The Mac Thunderbolt 3 to TB 2 adapter works just fine to run the Cinema Display.
- I needed to pay more attention to the Apple site. The Porsche Design drives are NOT bus powered, they need an additional brick. Fine for the home desktop, but not a portable. I'll still use the Transcend for that.

Back to trying to get boot camp installed and running.

Just bought a 4TB Porsche Design drive. It does NOT have a brick and IS powered by the MBP.

That's not such a bad thing. I will only use it at the track or when away from the dock at home. Three USB C ports should be plenty!

That's weird, Scott. The Porsche Mobile drives, 1TB, 2 TB and 4 TB, have never required a brick...

I was responding to Tom's post suggesting that they did require a brick with my experience saying that was not the case.
