AIM SoloDL software run on Apples yet?

Peter can you still play AIM video using Quicktime under the latest rev of OS X? Mine stopped worked a month or two ago and Quicktime no longer reads the smart cam video files native. Easy to use something else like VLC or 5Kplayer but it was much much easier to keep things native with the mac.
I also had issue editing AiM video in Adobe Premiere, causing it to crash. One solution is to convert the video using Handbrake, and then import into Premiere.

So a quick update on the Mac / SCHD video files. When they released the latest OS from El Capitan to Sierra, they changed the requirements for the video files to be played in Quicktime. AiM had customized the files a bit to include GPS info and had stayed within the Apple imposed requirements, which have sense changed. They are working on getting in touch with the right people at Apple to find out the new requirements and modify their file structure to work again. But, it will take some time.
In the mean time, as has been posted here, they suggest either using the earlier version of QT, that will run next to the newest version, available here https://support.apple.com/kb/DL923?locale=it_IT or using a third party player like VLC.
Hope this helps some and explains a bit of what is going on.

So, AiM broke it, not Apple!

So yeah, QT is enforcing a new set of CODECs on playback now, and yeah, some crap is broken INCLUDING some videos created by apple software.
Assume someone will get this fixed. I rather liked QT as you could do quick trims, edits, and stuff easily and fast. Now I need to use VLC or some other player. I have QT pro 7 around here somewhere...will try that suggestion.

Same problem here. I think the latest version of MacOS removed some codec from Quicktime. I just changed the default program for opening AiM video files to (the older) QuickTime Pro which still works like a charm. I also had issue editing AiM video in Adobe Premiere, causing it to crash. One solution is to convert the video using Handbrake, and then import into Premiere.

Press the record button on the lower left at the start of the desired clip, press it again at the finish.
Videos are saved in your "Video" documents file.

I posted this in it's own thread as well, but for the people in this one:
AiM released firmware 01.03.66 today for the SCHD. It does two things, one of which will make Mac users happy.
First, it lets you disable the keys on the unit when it's recording. This is more important for folks using a GP unit in a single seater where they can inadvertently turn the unit off while driving.
More important for Mac users is that you can turn the metadata off, making native playback in the latest QT available again. I don't have a Mac to test it on, but the option is there. After updating your SCHD in RS3 or SM2, go to Mene>Settings>Video Set>Metadata and turn it off.
Please recognize that this setting may change in the future when RS3 Analysis is released, as the metadata contains info to sync video with data, but we can worry about that down the road. This should make it easier for those users to play their videos back now.

And, of course, if you want to view SCHD .MOV files in Mac OS without hassle, use the free, open source and lightweight VLC Player.
If you use Joris Man's excellent CompareMyLaps or RaceStudio 3's video side-by-side feature, you'll need to leave the metadata enabled for the feature set to work in both of those.

Sadly CompareMyLaps won't play the SCHD files on a Mac. Very frustrating.
