Default SmartyCam mount

Is the smartycam mount the same as the smartycam HD?

I bought a used Smartycam and need to mount it somewhere. Where do people suggest they be mounted? dash? roll bar?

The RAM mount is great. Get the roll bar one and you should be good to go.

I know Jerry, Peter, and I all have them and can probably give you a rennlist discount.

This thread seemed most appropriate....

I already have a RAM mount system for my Replay XD1080 camera in my race car that I am replacing with a SmartyCam HD ver. 2.1. All I need for the SmartyCam is a 1" ball to screw into the 1/4-20 threaded mount hole.

Do I want this:

https://www.amazon.com/Ram-Mount-1-I.../dp/B00AHCUNG2

Or this:

https://www.amazon.com/Ram-Mount-1-I...Q5FR3QE5H4TD3A

Or does it not matter?

Thanks,

Doesn't matter. The standard one from AiM is without the hex.

Is this a newer photo:

I assume 1/4" is enough thread, right? After all it is a 1/4" diameter bolt.

I've never got one with the help. Maybe they use those in Italy.

. 25 is fine. The hole is blind and not too deep. I can measure tomorrow if you want.

Second one. Does matter. You want a serrated washer between a metal base and the camera.

No worries. I ordered the one with the hex.

I've never seen the schnorr washer make a difference in the field, but everyone's experience is different.

I've seen dozens come loose in the field, but not too many on soft GT cars.

There's a reason why AiM includes them in every camera kit...
