Default Wheel cleaner streaks - Any way to remove these marks from platinum satin rims?

Hello,

After washing my rims last night with Sonax wheel cleaner I noticed streaking on the platinum satin finish that I have been unable to remove.

I'm surprised because I've used the same cleaner on the same rims previously and never had a problem. Anyway, I am hoping there is a way to remove these marks, pics below. Advice appreciated.

That sucks.
I've heard that if you use regular wheel cleaner, that it's pretty easy to stain matte/satin finish wheels. I always use matte soap on my matte wheels.
I wonder if Sonax would help you out.

what have you tried?
I've tried clay and rubbing compound. Neither had any effect.

I wonder if Sonax would help you out.
I plan on contacting them to ask. I've used many of their products on numerous cars over the years and have never had a problem until now.

No, it wasn't. The car wash I used (I only use it for the hoses and water, car is washed by hand otherwise) is only a mile from my house and the car hadn't been driven all day.

I agree its strange. Ive used the same cleaner on the same rims twice before with no problem. In general, I've probably used it over a 100 times in the past 10 years without ever having a problem.

Using a wheel polish might work. Try it next time

I'm not sure any type of polish is a good idea, polish tends to make things less matte so it would essentially change the surface finish if you polish.

I have seen milky/streaky plastic trims where I've used a heat gun to evaporate whatever was embedded. Done carefully of course.

I've never done it on matte wheels. I wonder if a heat gun can evaporate whatever was embedded.

Thats very weird, considering I haven't experienced the same on my matte BBS. But I am glad you posted, since I might consider using a less harsh cleaner, or just soap and water in the future. Definitely contact Sonax like others have recommended to see that they say.

Default Fix for wheels

Hey man. Did you find a fix for this? I think I have a similar problem?

that looks like areas that were not completely rinsed off. you can take a detail spray to that and it should come off.
