2012 Boxster Spyder Azure Non-Metallic
In the shop recently was a fantastic Porsche that had been victim of abuse at the hands of another detailer. Despite the owner's best intentions this car had fallen victim to a cheap hack job dragging the name of good detailers everywhere into the mud. As you will see, with just a few thousand miles on the clock, this car had the scars to prove its abuse and was brought in to restore the paint completely. This previous detailer had given the car a "no-charge extra" in the form of some nasty chemical etching prevalent on all of the horizontal panels.
Setting to work right away, we eventually restored the finicky paint to a great shine without evidence of prior abuse.
The car received:
Full decontamination
Convertible top degreased, then sealed
Rims and Trim treated with Wolf's
Paint corrected in multiple stages with multiple passes
Two coats of sealant applied to paint, 12 hours apart
Tires degreased then three coats of dressing applied
Onto the pictures!
Initial presentation, from 8' back, doesn't look too bad for a non-daily-driver
Upon closer inspection, you can see the damage. That is not metal flake in the paint, but chemical etching presumably left from sloppy detail work and over-sprayed chemicals allowed to dry out on the paint. The circular scratches are a nice touch, too.
Quite a bit of reaction noted from de-ironiser treatment
Working it in
Clean enough to eat off of!
Foam soak to further strip decontaminants and any wax
After the wash and touchless air dry, The paint defects can truly be assessed. Marring and holograms came out to say hello in ample quantities!
Paint thickness readings were taken to gauge the health of the clear coat
And now the main event: Paint Correction!
Most of these shots show initial correction but are prior to refinement stages

To the detailer, did you happen to catch how many miles were on the car? The damage seems excessive for such a young car.
