Default First repair under my belt...

Two days ago posted about a coolant leak. Only had the 04 CS for two weeks.

Took the recommendation of a few friends and had it towed to a mechanic yesterday.

Well, just got the call. I hadn't told him that the previous owners had the rack and pinion replaced a month ago. They had told me that they had taken it to their mechanic to have it looked over, and that was the one thing he recommended before they sell it, so they did.

Well, my new mechanic, not the same one who did this.. said, "did you have the rack and pinion done recently"

I told him what had happened, and he said, well, they re-routed a heater core hose wrong and it had a hole worn in it.

So, parts and labor, $350, and I get it back tomorrow. He did say that he looked over the car and it is in great condition. The only thing he saw was a very, very minor oil leak in the back that he said he'd just monitor and not doing anything about yet. It must be small as I've not seen any oil in my garage.

That's really good news, considering some of that alternatives. Had to be a load off your mind.

I'm thinking about digging into the cooling issues all at once as a preventive measure. Doesn't look like a lot of fun.
