Default TPMS fault

Took set of winter wheels/tires off my 2011 CS and installed on my 2016 CD. TPMS would never learn different set. Worked fine on CS. When installing on CD, changed type to 20 inch Winter type as I had on the 2011. TPMS went through measuring mode and have driven much farther than needed, and screen ends up saying TPMS fault and service required. Any ideas? Bad sensor that happened to coincide with tire change or did sensor frequencies/protocol change from 2011 to 2016?
