2000 boxster s Shifter question

Shifts into all gears, shifter moves foward and back easily, but right to left is really hard?

Pop the cover on the trans tunnel and look for problems ? See Pelican for diy

pulled consol out this weekend dont think its a cable or shifter,could it be in trans? is there a spring for side to side?

Look on the side of the transmission One of the cable ends may have popped off. See Pelican for details on access & location,lots of big clear photos from Pelican.

+1 on this. The trans end of the cables can pop off or come loose and throw off the shifter. Get them lubricated and secure the ends.
