Default spoiler

All the newer 911s had a spoiler raise button for maintenance and cleaning- how does one get the 986 spoiler up unless you wash the car at 100kph? Also how do you know its even deployed at speed as it doesn't seem to show in the mirrors

Easy,

If you check the fuse panel there is a switch on the left side that will raise and lower the spoiler.

When I first got my Boxster I had a small hand mirror to use to view the spoiler to confirm it went up and down when it was supposed too. I did this a few times then stopped and put the mirror back in the bathroom.

Not so much where I live/drive now but in MO and KS (especially KS) often I'd be on a road and the sun would be such that my car's shadow would be visible to one side or the other of the road and I could see the spoiler's shadow as the spoiler deployed or retracted.

As Anker says, it's a small black unmarked switch (not the most obvious of switches).

I guess you have to trust Porsche that it's gone up at around 110km/hr, there is an idiot light for it and one would hope it would illuminate if the spoiler failed to deploy. That's all I've been able to do thus far with mine.

Check this eBay listing - http://www.ebay.com/itm/SPOILER-CONT...1W36Lt&vxp=mtr or search eBay for
SPOILER CONTROL INDICATOR. I installed one in my 1999 Boxster and it works fine.
