+1 on the top speed system. Also can be found as a "Manzo" exhaust. Just put a header + cat back system on my 97 base model, it definitely made a difference in the upper RPMs where it seemed to lack in power before. I also put in a K&N drop in filter at the same time, but probably to little difference. I kept the stock catalytic in place for the back pressure to keep the lower RPM power up a bit and the O2 sensors happy (No CEL), the drivability is wonderful, and the sound is even sweeter, makes it sound like it has more than a 2.5! It also covers up that accessory whine. There is a slight drone at 60-70 MPH with top up/ windows up, but can be avoided pretty easily with some throttle play. Also any aftermarket will be WAY lighter than that boat anchor stock unit.
All in all, for the money, you can't beat it. If its extra power you're looking for, I'm convinced the best Hp/dollar out there.

There really aren't many issues with the 986 muffler options IMO. You just have to make sure that you don't get one for the early car
Check out the Fabspeed Maxflo muffler, seems to have been a very popular option!

I saw a used fab speed exhaust, is there an issue as long as it doesnt have too many miles/hours on it? The price point is just a little out of my range and the used one is quite a bit cheaper obviously
