Default I regret selling my Boxster

Man! I regret selling my 1999 Boxster. I sold it at 110k miles to get a 996. The next chance I get I'm going to get the Boxster. I have a feeling soon I can get a nice used one for $5k or under. Good for me...bad for the seller.

It may be in my head but I feel that the Boxster has a better handling feel over the 911. Porsche was smart to make the power of the Boxster the way it is. Imagine if the Boxster has the same power as the 911. LOL

It would be devastating for the 911. For sure.
I spend my time in the 996 forum now but I think I still belong here.
When I see a Boxster on the street while I'm driving my 996, I know how good the Boxster is!

They are going to be upset when they read this, you sir are a 996 blasphemer! You don't really have to imagine what a hyper fast expensive Boxster would be like. The CGT has it's engine in the middle and so did the RS Spyder. I watched a race which had two Spyders running and they were manhandling everything around them, it was awesome.

PS If you get a newer Boxster the power difference from the 986 series is immediately apparent.

I don't think so. A 986 can be had cheap, but not that cheap. I'm told rollers with a blown engine go for $3,500.

The Boxster is a very good car.

The base Boxster is I believe it is one of the best bang for the buck cars Porsche offers, maybe the best.

I own a 2002 Boxster and a 2003 Turbo. If I *had* give up one car, limit myself to owning just one of these cars, it would be a real job to decide which one to get rid of and which one to keep.

I came so close to selling mine at the end of last year. I couldn't get my price for it so I am keeping it and have turned it from a garage queen to a daily driver. I am so glad I didn't sell it.

During the time I have owned the Boxster (since new in 2001) I have also owned a '97 993 cab with a tip and a '97 993 turbo. If the cab had of been a six speed I would still have it. The turbo was not as much fun to drive as the Boxster.

Default Did I read you post correctly?

You said that a '97 993 Turbo is not as fun to drive as a Boxster.

I have an '00 S that is fantastic all around car. A great driver in the twisties.

I have long yearned for a 993 Turbo. I guess that is out now.

I am guessing that a lot of folks on the 993tt side would disagree. It was a classic and piece of art in so many ways. I actually liked the NB 993 cab better than the turbo. But, the Boxster S is still my favorite driver of the three.

I have an 03 C4S and just bought a 01 Boxster S about a month ago. The feelings are completely different. The interior of the C4S feels way more luxurious and the power is incomparable. However, the Boxster handles way better and the feeling of having the top down makes up for being under powered. In other words, they both have their strengths and weaknesses, can't say one is better than the other but if it came down to it I would let the Boxster go before the C4S.

Agree with you. I have a 2000S which I drive and a 993tt that I look at. One is great fun to drive and the other has a rising price (and great acceleration).

I've been eyeing 996 prices lately and have thought about making the jump...maybe I should just stick with the 986! More power would be nice but I wouldn't want to lose the handling characteristics. I had a few friends with very fast Subarus autocross the Boxster this weekend and they all commented on how incredible the handling was and how easily they could drive the car.

I also ran a better time than they managed in their STIs with a measly 217hp! They all had the same or better tires than me as well.
