Default Debadging

I'm planning to debadge my deck lid this weekend, but the car is silver. How does the silver hold up on the Boxsters? Will the paint under the script be a completely different hue?

Depends. I debadged by 2004 SE and the paint under it matched exactly. Of course it only has 19k miles and is garage kept both at home and when I drive it to work. My friend debadged his 1999 car with 95k miles and the paint underneath was clearly a different hue. However, it's only something you can see from a couple feet away and it turned out kind of cool in my opinion......it's sort of a light "shadow" outline of "Boxster". I like it.

I debadged mine after it had 75k or so, and being black, it isn't perfect but you can still see it from certain angles. but again, from only a few feet away.

I have a handful of paint care products on hand. I can make it less noticeable if need be, but I'm hoping it won't stick out like a sore thumb.

My new glass-window top showed up this afternoon. It's going to be a busy weekend. I may have to do some of this stuff next week. Got a pair of 6.5" Polk Audio db speakers on the way too. I'm going to try to fit them into the factory locations.

The roofers left, and it stopped raining for 18 minutes, so I knocked out the badge while i had a chance.

Pic #1: The offending badge & dental floss.

Pic #2: The badge after being liberally hosed with non-ammonia glass cleaner. Floss started underneath the right side of the script.

Pic #3: Floss halfway through the badge, using plenty of glass cleaner and a gentle sawing motion. Floss is kept flat to the surface of the trunk.

Pic #4: Detached badge and two-sided tape that held it.

Pic #5: Using nylon stick with chisel end to remove two-sided tape. (Not: NOT recommended for 100 point paint.)

Pic #8: Ghost of badge apparent after removing all tape & glue residue.

Pic #9: Trunk lid after a gentle rubdown with Mequiar's fine cut cleaner, quickie wash job, and quickie wax with a good quality protective wax.

I debadged mine because the S was falling off, I ended up rebadging it because the contrasting script broke up the outline a bit and I ended up missing that

It did look a bit naked at first, but I've already gotten past it.
