A Street 996 Pro Solo fun
Couldn't make up the horsepower deficit to the Z06s, but still trophied in A Street at the Ft Myers Pro Solo. As predicted, the rear-engine grip was a huge advantage at the Pro Solo with the dragstrip launches. I was getting excellent reaction times yet never red lighted, and my 60ft times were consistently in the 1.8xx and 1.9xx range, while the corvettes, mustangs, camaros etc I was competing against were running 2.0-2.3s.

Thanks! I was peeved that the C6 Z06 codriver came at the end and last-runned me out of third, but oh well.
My theory is that my two fast left-side runs were clean, but that the SCCA national office heard that a Porsche was about upset the corvette dynasty, so they phoned in some cones for my times.
All the A Street guys were cool and loved racing against the 996. That one poor guy in the brand new 2017 camaro 1LE went backwards through the fence while I was on course, though.

It was a great event. The site is great.
911's always have an advantage at the launch.
I have always liked Pro Solos more than a national tour.
1) You have a cool start tree with reaction times
2) Lots of fun with 8 runs Saturday (2 secessions of 4 runs each)
3) Figure out what you did wrong on Saturday for your Sunday morning runs (2 runs each side)
4) Ends earlier than a National Tour on Sunday so you can get the flock out of there
5) Super Challenge fun if you drive well enough to get in
6) Chance of getting into the bonus Challenge if you want and are lucky enough to get your name picked out of the hat.
7) THE EVENT IS NEVER OVER UNTIL YOUR LAST TWO RUNS ON SUNDAY !
(Always assume that everybody is going to go faster, so you can't be happy with your best runs on Saturday.

Thanks! Again it's hard to feel good about the win when Jason just obliterated the rest of the class. The clutch slipped on my last run; I'm sure the ProSolo didn't help so it might be about time for a new one.
Evo School was great. Jim (Vitemvas? I'm spelling impaired) was my instructor and his Porsche experience really showed. He gave me a whole new strategy for my lines (braking sooner and rotating more instead of driving really tight and tidy) that I think can help me start to get on that path towards the Alien level.
