Minor clarification for others that may or may not apply:

If the 4S comes on your car from the factory it's legal for local and regional competition. The 4S is not legal at all for National competition whether it comes standard from Porsche or not.

This is kinda important because the 4S the replacement for the wildly popular Pilot Super Sport, so there's a good chance a lot of "casual" Porsche enthusiasts will have them on their cars soon, and Porsche very well may be installing them as OEM soon as well.

So... what cars some OEM with the 4S? It's not legal right for anyone this year, national, regional, or otherwise. Maybe people showing up with brand new amazeballs cars to regional events later in the season will be able to run them, but that's not going to help all the other casual competitors replacing their MPSS with 4S.

I wrote a letter to SEB about it because it seems pretty asinine. They can fix this with a tech bulletin. Until then, best we can do is encourage more porsche people to buy a proper performance tire like RE-71R

I meant that more as a posterity post, as you are 100% correct now, but the same may not be true when someone sees this thread a month or a year from now.

Hopefully the issue will be resolved by either a rule change or more sizes released before any cars with OEM 4S hit the showrooms.

SCCA responded in the Fastrack released today: no exception from the 4-sizes rule for 4S. If Michelin doesn't come out with tires in at least 4 different diameters by the end of April, it's not legal for SCCA competition this year.
