I'm taking a Porsche plunge, but not CS or BS. I won't have the car for a couple of weeks, but verbal deal is made. I won't say anything now so as not to jinx it. It's a direction apparently few (none?) have ever taken. (Of course, probably means I'm nuts.) Will post once I actually have it.

Bingo.
Have a deal for a well-maintained, very original 1989 944. 2.7 liter motor.
Things I think I will need:
Correct M030 front struts, bars, Springs, torsion bars
A/C delete bracket
harness bar (Weltmeister?)
Correct Porsche LSD
set of 1993 968 Cup 1's in 17x8 and 17x9 (the M394 option is what makes this car competitive, plus ability to de-option)
thinking I'll run 255/40-17 RE71R square.
really cool that now there's a solid state DME relay, even a solid state DME.

Nice choice even though I thought it would be 88 924S SE with MO30. Dam those Maita's are going to be tuff. Was sport seats a option? If it was I think that Classic9 was doing an upgrade of regular seats to sports at one time.

Sport seats are an option. But, late manual seats are each about 12lbs lighter than the late electric sport seat. I've been advised better to put in a harness bar and use the lighter seat.
Also, my "consultant" (a multitime national champ) tested a set up 944 against set up NA miata back in the day for a guy going to Nats trying to decide which to take. He was 0.5 faster in the 944 as long as it had LSD.

I was looking for an SE, but they are hard to find. Also, the narrow front wheel is said to be a severe limitation for auto-x.

Finally some 987s show up in BS.
After day 1 of the Fontana Pro there's a Cayman S sitting on top. Nice variety too, with the rest of the trophies rounded out with a C5 Corvette, a Focus RS, and an S2000.
That Focus is cutting 1.8s 60' times. Dang.
