Starting to get used to the handling characteristics of the Cayman and managed to get 3rd in PAX at the last Philly event. I recently moved the front bar from full stiff to the middle setting and the car feels good. I may try full soft at some point, but I'm worried it may be too loose. The Pro Solo in DC is this weekend. I don't have a shot against the top AS guys; however, it should be fun anyway.

Looking at the entry list as it stands now, I think you might be paired up with Lex for Saturday AM, which will be fun to watch. My 987.2S is still in SS this year... I'm hoping to not suck too bad, but I'm mostly there for the fun of it because there's no way I'm skilled enough to beat any of the top drivers in SS or AS.

Chris,

What are you alignment specs with this setup?

I did my own alignment, so I don't know the exact camber specs. I maxed out the front negative camber, and probably got around -1.8 degrees or so. For toe, I have 1/8" total toe-out up front and 1/8" total toe-in out back.

Bumping this thread. I know OP has moved on, but now that the 981 base is in BS next year, is it competitive? Is it better than the 987.1S?

From what I understand, the 2.7 with the terrible 981 gearsets is totally anemic. That said, I believe the chassis is better and the while I do not know for sure all that available for order on the base 2.7, options like X73, PTV, PDK could make the car better than the 987. It would be stuck with larger diameter 19" wheels (even least thrust) or narrower than the 987 8" front wheels so less front tire.

Does anyone have an order guide for the 981?

I have in my notes XRT wheel option is 20x8.5/10, is this incorrect?

EDIT:
A little Googling suggests PASM was required to check the PTV box, and X73 is not compatible with PASM.

I've seen a few PTV equipped base cars, so they're out there, but rare. PCCB seems to be the nobody-picked-it option.

Yes. You could option 20x8.5/20x10 on the base 981.

For PTV: You could order X73 or PASM with PTV, but it at least required PASM to get PTV.

I agree. PDK has better gearing and this car really lacks torque. If I were to do it again, I would skip the front bar and go with 18x8 and 18x9.5 to get better gearing and go with 245/275 or squeeze on 255/285s.

I think it will a rough battle against the M2 in BS. I would opt for the 987.2S or go with an 981 S or GTS in AS.
