A spacer decreases the offset number. In order to get those 42mm rear offset wheels into spec to replace a 50mm stock wheel, you'd actually need to remove material from the wheel where it mounts to the hub. That's likely to be a bad idea, and replaces your inexpensive off-the-shelf wheel with a custom-machined wheel.

I've heard of it being done. I would never do it myself.

Makes sense, thanks. I guess I'll try OZ's as I won't be competitive anyway.

OZ Alleggerita HLT are good wheels; I bought them (18" 987.2S OEM size/offset) as track wheels but upgraded them to my DD+track duty and usually leave them on full time. They're cheap and light but strong and if you can find them in your size/offset, they're a great way to go.

I have a set that will fit a narrow body 997.1 C2S or GT3. I don't know if the offsets are the same for your car, but they have the RT option from Finspeed, removed additional material to gain easy access to lugs and it removes another pound per wheel.

Finspeeed F11 forged aluminum wheels with RT option -
19x9 and 19x11.5. Offset for 997.1 narrow body C2S or GT3
standard 5 x 130 lug. Finish is hand brushed with light clear tint.

Just finished up mounting this 19" set of Gold R101 wheels on the GT4. More photoshoots, and videos of the Akrapovič exhaust system will be coming as soon as possible!

Like any wheel, keep a good eye on them. I retired a set of OZ rears because I found a broken spoke while checking tire pressures in the middle of the day. 4th or 5th year autocrossing them. 30+ events per year. I have bought several sets more since then, but really do give them a good visual check when checking pressure or flipping tires.
