I had to special order it on my 2011 turbo s. As far as I know mine was the only one in the USA with heated ventilated adaptives. It was a healthy uncharge as I recall.

That said, I consider myself luck to have found an 09 during my search because of the upgraded PCM system. The differences are a much better sound system, much better touch screen NAV, bluetooth, satellite radio, and universal audio interface. I know some of these features can be added, but I've read the results are mixed and even if satisfactory you end up with a modifed car, OEM is always better, even if only from a perception standpoint. I consider these features important when I drive my car, love Sirus radio and not having to screw with my phone while driving. In fact these features mattered enough to me that my search wasn't between an 07-08 vs. 09, but between an 09 and a 997.2.
PCM 3.0 is clearly better than 2.1. Given the choice, I would prefer 3.0. That being said, I wasn't a deal breaker for me. I drove my 997 TT a few thousand miles per year, and frequently the stereo was off. For a daily driver, 3.0 is a big improvement.

That's generally been my sense

nice add with a 2009 is that is has the 997.2 wiring harness therefore the TPC Racing DSC Module connects without any soldering required for the accelerometer

bet a lot of you did not think of that perk!

I have a 2008 and added the Dension unit for bluetooth, but it's not the same as a factory installed option.
If I could have vented seats that would really be nice, but even if I had found the right 2009, it would have had the adaptive seats and not the comfort...
For me, I'm not unhappy I bought a 2008. If a 2009 had been beside it and equipped the same but had the updated PCM and vented seats, I would have paid a couple thousand more for it.

I've been thinking about one of these modules but was holding off for the exact reason you stated, thanks for the info..

That is not correct. 997.1 turbos do not require the accelerometer. 997.1 non turbos do.

Um, nope.

I have the DSC module on my 997.1TT. (2007) Plugged right in, no extra wiring required.. It even has "997.2TT" written on the side of the DSC box.. When I questioned Tom@TPC, I was told that its the same unit..

For the standard 997.1 non-turbo Carrera, yes, you need to add the extra accelerometer for the DSC box to work.

Accelerometer soldering that is. 997.1 turbos are plug and play with the tpc disc.

Correct. The 3-axis accelerometer is only required for non-turbo 997.1 models.

A 997.1 Turbo gets the same firmware as any 997.2

All 997 awd turbos already have accelerometer std as part of the psm/ pasm, unlike 2wd 997 cars. This is why you don't need it in either a 997.1 or .2, nothing to do with wiring harnesses or soldering. The 997.2 designation on the dsc box refers to version 2 from dsc as far as I know.

Ctdan, your car looks spectacular. The dension isn't OEM, but it does work fairly well thru the PCM and does stream BT off your phone, which is something the '09 pcm3.0 can't do. That's an advantage in my book, but like you said it's not OEM like at all.

Thank you sir!
I had the Dension installed, and it's not quite right yet... it sometimes streams music & sometimes doesn't, but the microphone hasn't worked since it was installed so no calls can be made through it.

Wish there was an aftermarket head unit that didn't look aftermarket...

I just haven't had time to fool with it, but I'll get to it soon.

take it from a '09 997.1 6-speed owner here, you will not regret it..this MY is the best of the best w/ upgraded PCM, final Mezger, etc. I also have the PCCB option..

During my search few years ago, I test drove an 09 locally and flew out of state to look at an 07. At that time there was a 15k difference with same mileage In my opinion, it's the exact the same except for the PCM updated look. I had to really think about that price difference for an 09 with Updated PCM and it was really outdated technology wise. So came down to center console look. I got the 07 instead and used extra funds for mods, wheels, performance clutch and a lift.
