First off, let me say congrats to you as well! Like Johnbelk stated above, these cars are so timeless that 5, 10, 20 years down the road I fully believe they will still be viewed in a positive light. Every time I see pics of even a bone stock 997 Turbo I still think "wow, what a nice car!!" and I own one!
I'm also a former owner of a RWD Porsche 911 and I can definitely attest to the fact that the feel of the AWD and the additional weight of the turbo produces quite a different driving dynamic. The turbo feels so much more planted and feels like it would understeer when pushed hard, whereas my other 911 felt a lot lighter and felt like it could oversteer if I pushed hard. If you're a hardcore track guy (and I'm not), you probably would like the fact that you could break the back end loose when needed. However for most of us, the AWD is easier to drive fast. It does give it more of a GT cruiser feeling as opposed to raw sports car feeling.

Yes, in fact we were commenting yesterday that the car DOES feel "bigger", even from the cockpit, and heavier from a driving perspective. More planted. And, I was looking at 996tt's as well, but I couldn't get past the incredible styling improvements of the 997. I absolutely LOVE the looks of the 997, especially with the aero.
The turbo and non-turbo are both 911s, but man do they feel like totally different cars. The difference in power more than makes up for the weight different... I expected that...but the cars feel so much different as well. The AWD plus the weight completely change everything. Some for the better, some not. I think it is a close call between the 997TT and the 997GTS for best Porsche in my book, and depending on the day I might pick one over the other. Both are the best sports cars this side of $100K, with the Turbo being the better everyday car and the GTS maybe being the better track/weekend warrior.

Great looking car, looks like we have similar taste. I just picked up this 2007 997.1TT, 6 speed manual in Slate Grey Metallic, Sand Beige Full Leather with Sport Adaptive Seats on 2/17/17. My other car is a 2001 C2 Cab, really liking the bigger size of the 997 vs the 996 and the awd is a dream!!!!

I agree on the lighter interior, but in the heat down here in LV it works better. If these cars came with the air conditioned seats, like the 997.2 have, I would have went with black interior.

I usually like lighter interiors personally but I've heard a lot of 997 people say that the light colored dashes create a lot of glare in the windshield. (Also, 09 .1s had ventilated seats as an option.)
