Designed specifically for PCM 2.1, which was introduced on the 997.1.

If unsure, email us an image of your PCM with keypad and we'll confirm. But yes, 997.1 is compatible as long as it has 2.1. Some of the launch cars had 2.0 (no phone buttons on upper left). 2.0 is not compatible. 2.1 is (with phone buttons).

Does it SAT radio capability? Or is this an additional module?

I went a different route with an aftermarket head unit and I'm not very impressed.

Eric:
I have pcm 2.1 with no cd changer. I want to stream music from my phone (wirelessly) to the head unit at the maximum possible sound quality. I do not want to use any telephone functions (perk of living in Texas...text and talk all you want!) and do not need a charger.
What unit should I buy?

Thx!

fosbibr: Sat Radio audio can be routed to the 3.5mm aux input on the Dension though it will not display station data, the XM/Sirius Commander style units sit in the storage area near shifter and display station. If your Sat Radio device has audio out, that would be the easiest way into the system. You would need a Sat Radio receiver and antenna.

skyak: PCM 2.1 - the 500SBT without question. You can disable phone if you want, though it's a great feature to have. Least sound loss on the market.

What's involved with the install? Is this a DYI project or more involved. The website does not seem to have installation instructions or I may have just missed it.

Thanks in advance.

Sky and Beng:

Programming is needed on a non cdc vehicle, by dealer or indy with PIWIS (Porsche Tester). Takes 10 mins. Some dealers charge for this, others don't. Depends on relationship.

Installation is mostly DIY for someone with basic skills and who will read our tutorials we send when we ship the units. 90 minutes. Extra set of hands helps too. We've seen them done by pro installers in under an hour. No major panel removal, but you do need to understand fiber optics and vehicle power. No clipping of original fiber, just remove from back of PCM and install into Dension, then run one cable from dension to PCM. Power is unswitched/constant and can be tapped from behind radio or at fuse panel.

With my dension I stream sat radio through my phone, all titles on screen, works well. Just download the Sirius app and you're good to go, no modules just your phone and the dension unit.

The dension sb500 unit actually makes the PCM 2.1 superior to the 3.0 bc you can stream thru your phone, unlike the 3.0 which doesn't allow bt streaming. IMO

I finally pulled the trigger and ordered this kit for my 997tt this morning.

Thanks Eric for providing us a discount on this product! I'm looking forward to doing the install over the winter

Thanks cak. Shipments have all gone out, and new arrival from Dension due in our offices in the next couple days to cover orders from yesterday forward.

Appreciate the participation, glad to pass along some discounts when we get 'em.

Best product for the 997 07-08 turbo. I purchased mine from Eric in 2014. It has been flawless since!

I asked the dealer and they said 3-4 hours labor to install. That seems high to me. How are others doing the installation?
