Default Brake Pads for DE

What brand/compound pads have folks had good luck with for DE use on 997.1 turbos (steels, not ceramics)?

Pagid yellow

19 or 29 for more initial bite

These are endurance pads! Perfect for keeping their levels of performance at high temps

I ran a cheap set of stoptech street pads and fried them on one trip to the canyon roads. On the track they were useless after two laps

Are you a beginner? If yes, you might be fine with your OEM pad and fresh fluid. For brake fluid, I would suggest Endless, SRF or Brembo HTC64.

I've used PFC01/11/08 - all good pads but they're a bit tough on rotors (i.e. you develop cracks after a weekend or two of use, but they stop every single time). I've since switched to Ferodo DS111 - I'm very happy with them and much easier on rotors and they stop every single time.

I'm an instructor (no longer actively instructing), however this will be the first time with the Turbo at the track. I've had good experience with Pagid yellows in the past, but was wondering if others here had good luck with other options.

I'll be using SRF brake fluid.

I rate the Pagid RSL1's. Great feel, last longer than I thought possible, really kind on rotors.

Ray:
Since you are already familiar with how the Pagid Yellows work on the track and were happy with them, then I would stick with them. They will work fine on a 997TT. What tires will you be running on the 997TT. The Yellows will work fine from a sticky street tire like and MPSC up through a Hoosier R7.

Kind regards,

Thanks Mike.

I have not decided on tires yet.

PFC 08 have a less sharp initial bite than the Ferodo DS1.1, easier to threshold brake without engaging ABS. Currently running PFC08 on the front, and DS1.1 on the rear on cheab sebro drilled rotors. Both hold up to temps very well.

2nd the PFC 08's. I use them on the Front and Rear. They are noisy if you street drive them after a week or two.

I would also add some Brake ducts.
