Default A bit overwhelmed in my hunt for a 997 turbo

I'm looking around for 997 turbo for a month or so.
I've been reading and reading, so I'm not totally clueless, but so many of the searchable threads are from years ago.

My goal is to purchase a 997 turbo and build it to the level of something like the EVOMS EVT650 package. I haven't resigned myself to gen 1 or 2.

I was SET on 6 speed as that's all I've ever known and I want a fun drivers car for the weekend and sunny afternoons. I almost pulled the trigger on a 997.2 6 speed that quickly was sold. I had the option, but waited too long because some questions hit me:

what's the aftermarket for 997.2 manual? Many vendors don't even have mention on their site.

If I let off of the 6 speed requirement, a lot of new options and deals become available so I guess I have to consider getting with the times...

What's the current status on 997.2 PDK power holding without rebuilding with aftermarket clutches, etc.?

I don't care about navigation, radio, etc in .2
I do care about a nice ride quality and support from the aftermarket as we move on from this generation.

Thanks for any input.

The search function is your friend. There are countless threads on both of these topics on this forum.

Plenty of aftermarket options for .2. Don't knwo about PDk modding or lifespan.
From my experience, good examples (either .1 or .2) sell fast, so be ready to pull trigger.

There definitely is an aftermarket for the 997.2TT w/ 6MT:
http://www.evoms.com/Porsche_997_2_T...p/evo650.2.htm

This specific spec is pretty rare (someone on here estimated that there were ~700 997.2TT w/ 6MT), but there are definitely aftermarket options out there for it.

In terms of how much power the 6MT can handle, I would contact EvoMS directly to see what they have to say about it.

Longboarder on here (find his racing youtube videos online) has a full bolt on 997.2 turbo s pdk. Stock fuel system and stock clutch pack.

ask him and watch his car pull real hard and fast. he's about 650 whp I believe. anymore than that and the pdk and fuel system might start complaining.

otherwise the 997.1 mezger is known to handle more power as you build up.

If I were looking to mod a .2 Turbo I'd go with 6MT vs PDK. I have been told the PDK can be a limiting factor in high hp builds. This is feedback I got when enquiring about building a new motor for a .2 Carerra S PDK. I would assume the same general rule of thumb would apply for a Turbo or Turbo S.

I searched for 10 months before finding my perfect one and had to go out of state for it too. Good luck! Patience is what the Porsche game is all about it seems.

Same here, months of search, couple test drives, then a flight there and a 15 hour drive back. Patience is key here.

Nice car, but I think you will continue to have difficulty moving it at its current price. GLWS, but a 5-10% discounted ask seems much more realistic.

Agree with you. The owners of .1 manuals here really love their cars which is great but I havent seen them selling for those high prices elsewhere. Keep looking and you will find the right one at the right price, just takes time.

I think it's a decent price given the extras you get with the car...

Extras almost never add value and to some hurt it. For instance, the roll bar wouldnt work for a lot of people who dont want to track it.
