Default 2007-08 Turbo or 2011 Turbo S

Thinking about getting back into the P car world.

Had a 2011 GT3 and a few older turbos.

Im looking for the best bang for the buck.

No flames also want a tip.

What are your thoughts?

Thanks
Chas

Best bang for the buck would be the 996 Turbo. Basically same mechanicals as the 997 Turbo, readily upgradeable if that's your thing.

The 997.1 TT with the Tiptronic gearbox is a great value right now. The PDK gearbox in the 2010+ 997.2 cars is very nice, but it's quite a bit more expensive than the 997.1 Tiptronic.

No question, go with a 997.2 turbo PDK.

I would only suggest a Tip if you were using it as a winter beater.

The 997.1TT in tiptronic would cost a lot less up-front compared to a 997.2TTS in PDK, but the 997.2TTS in PDK will probably hold its resale value better.

Resale value of a 9 year old high miles Tip is so far in the tank already, can't go wrong.

Except if you need a $6-8K coolant pipes redo, or have $1K CF pieces delaminating. Otherwise, bulletproof.

Speaking from 94K miles experience.

That car has been there for months and it's the end of the year so you may be able to use that as leverage too. I saw it in person and it's very very clean.

Best bang for the buck, creature of comfort, automatic gear box, turbo boost madness, you just describe something like 997.2TTS with little over 30k miles for $80k-ish

+1^

Expect to pay a little more for a CPO'd version from a dealership. Which may include new tires, plugs, oil change etc... Pls make darn sure the PCCBs evaluated...as the expense to replaced damaged rotors is costly. I really do enjoy mine...

Good Luck!!!...JB

I LOVE my 997.2 PDK. It's the easiest to drive super fast car I've ever had. All my other nice/fast cars were 6 speeds.

The TIP would cost a bit less but if you can find a medium mile 997.2, as others have said, it could be in the mid to high 80's. I personally thinks it's TOTALLY worth the extra dough as the radio/nav upgrade is sweet as are some of the controls like heating and A/C ***** are nice on the newer car. And the center lock wheels or the other wheels on the 997.2, to me, look more updated and nicer than the 2007-2009 Turbos.

Bottom line is whatever you pick will be great. You have awesome taste in cars in general, as well. Why did you get rid of the 2011 GT3?

I'd say don't limit scope of search and then pull the trigger when you find a good one whether its a pdk S or .1 manual.

That silver S looks great^
