Default Thinking of trading my 997 C4S for a 997 Turbo

Since the 997.1's are starting to age, one of my big concerns is the mileage. How many miles are too many for one of these turbo engines? I know some of you are going to say that mine has 100k+ miles and runs great but remember, I will be buying this without much insight into the history of the vehicles I would be considering. Any insight would be helpful. Thanks.

If I were you, I'd simply find a car that looks beautiful to you, has the right options for you, is being sold at a fair price, and has been well maintained. Get a PPI on it and if it passes with flying colors, buy it and enjoy it for many years to come.

I wouldn't worry about literally anything else. Miles, shmiles. All cars can break down. I've had Maximas, Acuras, and VWs that all broke down, and cost a surprising large amount of money to fix.

Do the turbos need serviced or more importantly replaced at an early interval like 100k miles?

Absolutely not, not replaced. Serviced? I would imagine so though I don't know those details. You would want to call your local service advisor too.

If you are going to use it as a DD M-F, I would get the later years. Even a 997.2. But it should not stop you to get a 997.1 which what I have. I just got one again with 19800 miles to start, and would use it 2-3/a week, 80 miles a day. Thats why I really bought one. I want to enjoy my self since I would be doing a lot of driving weekly.

I just came back from a trip 350 miles and I enjoyed every minute of it. Nothing beats a TT in the interstate or freeway. ZOOM ZOOM.

40 miles each way to work is only 35 minutes from my house BTW.

BTW, I had a 997 C4S, a 997 turbo would be a different league on its own. Get one while the prices has been stable.

This would be a semi-daily driver. Maybe 8k miles per year. So you think the driving difference is that significant huh? I feel like my C4S needs more power which is why I'm thinking about getting a turbo.

I have not test driven one yet but plan to do so this week.

Just what I am doing 7 k miles a year with my M5 to do the other 7k miles.

You are going to feel the difference, I guarantee you.

The looks alone and the boost is enough for me.

And then on a highway on 6th gear and you want to overtake, just press the gas and its done.

Trade it and dont look back.

There is no expiration or "use by" date on these cars. It's all about maintenance history. If you find a car with a clear maintenance history, but over say 50k miles, that car, to me, would be more attractive than a car with low miles but no history recorded, and the fact that it'll be $10k cheaper or more makes it even a better buy. A car with some mileage, but that has been cared for and maintained could be a great bargain, just like a low mileage car that hasn't been driven or regularly checked out could end up needing some work.

Trade it. I started with a 2010 C4S kept it a year and traded for a 12 turbo s. unbelievable difference. I also drive it about 7k a year . no issues.
The boost is very very addicting.

I second what others have said--I too went from a C4S (2011) to my current 2011 TTS and the power difference is night and day. No regrets whatsoever.

I went from an '07 997C2S to a '07 997TT.
I had been thinking about getting a turbo for a while, and I finally test drove one 3 years ago this week.. Needless to say, I traded in the C2S a few days later.. As others have said the torque is addicting.. Go test drive a few and decide, you won't be sorry you did..

Torque, torque and more torque. I used to own 997C2S and like you I thought it was fast but not as torquey as my previous M6. I test drive a colleague 997TT and bought it the next day. Once you feel that acceleration of the turbo, there is no looking back to any regular 911 anymore. Well, may be a 991.2 GT3 LOL.
